Overview:

 

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing firm in the role of Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have experience with the month end closing process, account reconciliations and posting journal entries and possess a working knowledge of GAAP. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares general journal entries, balance sheet account and bank reconciliations.
  • Responsible for accounts payable and cash disbursements including verification of invoices, check requests, purchase requisitions and preparation of disbursement vouchers for approval by management. Prepares and enters accounts payable into GL.
  • Maintains accounts receivable and administers monthly posting and reconciliation.
  • Reconciles debt accounts and record interest expense and principal payments. Prepares debt roll forward.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Prepares, reviews and interprets financial and operating data for CFO.
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization’s accounting operation; recommends improvements.
  • Assists team members with closing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assists with gathering data and filing periodic tax filings and GET.
  • Supports team members with departmental workflow and efficiency projects and other special projects as requested.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting preferred.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience, preferably in the accounting department of an annuities, insurance or retail financial services firm.
  • Strong accounting skills and a basic knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Highly skilled using QB/QBO, Excel and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Exposure to change management, process flow optimization and departmental efficiency metrics a plus.
  • Familiarity with commission-based compensation structures is a plus.
  • Familiarity with accounting rules governing reporting multi-entity organizations preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce, SPIFF commission software, ADP and/or Clover a plus.
