The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) manages the systems and staff that support the accounting operations of the E.A. Buck enterprise. Reporting to the CEO and working as a member of the leadership team, the CFO takes a leadership role in building, implementing and overseeing all the firm’s accounting operational functions, including budgeting, payroll and financial reporting processes to meet financial and service commitments to clients, employees and shareholders. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, they produce thorough financial-status reports for the CEO and leadership team to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Candidate will be based in Denver, CO.

This position is a full-time, in-office position based out of our Denver office.

No agencies please.

NOTE: Only people who are currently living in Colorado will be considered for this role.

Salary / Benefits Package:

Base Salary range of $150,000 to $200,000 per year, based on experience.
Plus a Profit Sharing Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Executive Leadership – Participation on the executive committee to set company strategy and policy.

Company Goals – Provide leadership and direction in the attainment of the company goals.  Including annual KPIs, 3-year objectives, and long-term targets.

Management – Supervise the Daily Activities of Accounting team members.

Performance Evaluation – Periodically Evaluate the Performance of Accounting team members.

Training – Provide Initial Training and Ongoing Professional Development for Accounting team members.

Meetings – Conduct Daily Huddles, Weekly Tactical and Monthly Strategy Meetings with Team.

Terminations and Disciplinary  Actions – as appropriate handle the disciplinary actions, including personal improvement plans.  And when necessary the terminations of employees.

Reporting/Tracking – Complete Progress Reports on a Weekly Basis where necessary.

Hiring – Participate in the recruiting and interviewing process for new Accounting team members.

Budgeting – Create annual budgets and projections, and on a monthly basis forecast and manage budgets and financial goals, including budget-to-actual generation and analysis.

Reporting – Annual, monthly; income statements, balance sheets, account reconciliations, P&L analysis.

Cash Management – Monitor and manage cash to ensure business needs are met; provide regular updates to leadership on cash position, needs and ongoing optimization strategy.

Bank Relationship – Manage relationship with all banks and lenders.

Debt Management – Effectively and efficiently manage and optimize corporate debt.

Expense Optimization – Be knowledgeable and strategize on implementing cost saving measures, discounts and incentive opportunities.

Controls & Processes – Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, systems, controls and methodologies.

Reconciliations – Monthly cash/bank and credit card reconciliations, vouchering and posting

Accounts Receivable – Ensure that issued invoices are received in a timely manner.

Accounts Payable – Ensure relevant invoices are paid in a timely manner; vouchering/payment processing.

Journal Entry – Journal entry production and posting.

Strategic Analysis – Apply quantitative methodology to understanding status and trends in the firm, and proactively recommend ways to maximize opportunities, mitigate risk, and continually improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Department Initiatives – Research, plan and implement department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental improvements

M&A – As necessary, provide due diligence support and guidance on mergers and acquisitions activity.

Special Projects – Lend expertise to special projects as necessary, including supporting another team member’s endeavor or proactively initiating and leading a project that will further enhance the company.

Commissions – Monthly preparation of commission reports; apply and manage commissions from multiple sources, ensuring timely calculation and payment to appropriate recipients.

Human Resource Administration – Payroll preparation, processing, and execution; benefits administration (vacation/sick days; medical; 410k/profit sharing, etc.); annual 1099-MISC forms preparation and filing.

 

Professional Improvement – Ongoing personal training.

Licensing – Maintain all required licenses.

Continuing Education – Complete all required continuing education.

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Required. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Minimum eight (8) years of accounting experience.
Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Accounting Software. Strong organizational skills, communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, analytical abilities, consistent follow-through.
